Volleyball Team Falls to Case Western Reserve in Straight Sets

CLEVELAND, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team was defeated by Case Western Reserve University in Straight Sets tonight (Tuesday, September 27, 2011) in a non-conference match in the Horsburgh Gymnasium inside the Veale Center.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 12-8 overall and Case improves to 11-4.

Case won the first set by a score of 25-18, took the second set 25-16 and outlasted B-W in the final set by a score of 25-23.

Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets were led offensively by junior outisde hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) as she recorded 12 kills. She was followed by junior middle hitter Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Holy Name) with seven.

The defense was led by junior defensive specialist Natalie Emmons (Ashland) with 15 digs, she was followed by three other Yellow Jackets who also tallied double digit digs. Including, sophomore Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) with 13, senior Amanda Mass (North Royalton) and sophomore Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelin) each had 12. 

B-W will travel to Marietta this Friday September 30 to face the Pioneers of Marietta College in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in the Ban Johnson Arena at 7:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets will not return to the friendly confines of the Ursprung Gymnasium until Tuesday, October 11 when they play host to Heidelberg University in an OAC match at 7:00 p.m.
