Volleyball Team Falls in Straight Sets to Hiram

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team was defeated by Hiram College in straight sets tonight (Wednesday, September 14, 2011) in a non-conference match in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.  The contest was the first home dual match of the season for the Yellow Jackets.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 8-2 overall and the Terriers improved to 6-4.

Hiram won the first set by a score of 28-26, took the second set 25-20 and outlasted B-W in an exciting third and final set by a score of 33-31.

Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets were led offensively by junior outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) as she recorded 13 kills.

B-W will travel to Greencastle, Indiana this weekend Friday and Saturday, September 16-17 to participate in the DePauw University Tiger Invitational.  The Yellow Jackets will return to the friendly confines of the Ursprung Gymnasium on Wednesday, September 21 when they play host to Capital University in the first Ohio Athletic Conference match of the season at 7:00 p.m.
