OBERLIN, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team shut out traditional rival Oberlin College, 3-0, tonight (Wednesday, October 5, 2011) in its final non-conference match of the season.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 13-9 overall while Oberlin falls to 0-17.

B-W was led offensively by transfer junior outside hitter Amanda Sawicki  (Mentor/ Lake Catholic via Marietta College) with six kills. In addition, sophomore rightside player Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) and sophomore middle hitter Colleen Bonacci (Stow/ Stow-Monroe Falls)each had four kills. The offense was set up by a trio of Yellow Jackets, including junior setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/ North) with 11 set assists. Sophomore setter Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/ Columbia) and freshman setter Katie Primeau (Pemberville/ Eastwood) each tallied eight set assists.

Defensively, B-W was led by Deleur with eight defensive digs and sophomore defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelin) and junior defensive specialist Natalie Emmons (Ashland) each contributed six.

The Yellow Jackets will remain "on the road" this Saturday, October 8 when they will travel to Westerville to face the Cardinals of Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at 1:00 p.m. B-W will return to the friendly confines of the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Recreation Center on Tuesday, October 11 when they play host to Heidelberg University in an OAC match at 7:00 p.m.
