BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Muskingum University in Straight sets, 3-0, today (Saturday, October 29, 2011) in the final regular season match in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.  The match was also Seniors' and Parents' Day for the Yellow Jackets.

B-W won the match by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and, 25-13 to record its third straight victory (all by straight sets) and improve to 17-12 overall and 5-4 in the OAC.  Muskingum ends the regular season with a record of 12-15 overall and 2-7 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/Lake Catholic) with 11 kills and by freshman middle hitter Nicole Christner (Minerva) with nine. The B-W offense was set up by Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/North) with 29 set assists.

Defensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelin) with 18 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Paige Pileski (Elyria) and sophomore right side Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) contributed 16 and 11 digs respectively.

Muskingum was led offensively by Hannah Rose and Lauren Tullis with four kills apiece. Setting up the offense was McKensie Smith with eight set assists. The Fighting Muskies were led on defense by Kim Seitter with 13 digs.  

The Yellow Jackets finish the season tied for fourth place with Ohio Northern but since B-W defeated the Polar Bears on October 15, it will enter next's week OAC Tournament as the number four seed and will host number five seed Ohio Northern on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.   The Fighting Muskies will enter the tournament as the eighth seed and will travel to Tiffin to take on the top-seed Heidelberg University, who captured its third consecutive OAC regular season championship, on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.
