BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches today (Saturday, September 17, 2011) at the DePauw University Invitational Tournament in Greencastle, Indiana. The Yellow Jackets had a 1-3 mark in the tourney. Yesterday, B-W defeated Birmingham Southern (Ala.) University and lost to the host school.

Today, B-W lost to Millikin (Ill.) University, 3-1, and by the scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-17. Then the Jackets lost to Rose-Hulman (Ind.), 3-2, and by the scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-12, 23-25 and 18-16.

In its first match versus Millikin, freshman middle hitter Nicole Christner (Minerva) led the front wall with 12 kills and both junior transfer Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference hitter Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/ Holy Name) each had eight kills. Junior setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/North) had 22 set assists. Defensively, junior libero Natalie Emmons (Ashland) had the most digs with 18 and Stiits had 12.

In the loss to Rose-Hulman, Sawicki led the way with a career-high 25 kills and was followed by sophomore rightside player Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) with 10 kills and Switalski with six. Stitts had the most set assists with a career-high 51. Emmons had the most digs with 38, followed by Stitts and Deleur with 21 each.

B-W is back in action this Wednesday, Sept. 21 when it opens OAC play against Capital University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:00 p.m.
