Seven Yellow Jacket Women Named to 2010-11 Academic All-OAC At-Large Team

BEREA, OHIO -- Seven Baldwin Wallace University female student-athletes have been named to the 2010-11 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference At-Large team. The seven selections are the second most of any OAC institution and includes five first-team choices.

 
Named to the first-team are senior women's tennis standouts Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/ Columbus Bishop Hartley), Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/Green) and Katy Marshall (Medina), sophomore women's golf standout Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) and sophomore diving All-American Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.). The five all have one thing in common this year, each competed at an NCAA Division III National Championship event. In addition to the quartet, sophomore women's golfer Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) and sophomore women's tennis player Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) were tabbed as honorable mention choices.
 
Pecinovsky, Pelosi, Marshall and Mittler were all key members of a Yellow Jacket women's tennis team that finished 18-8 overall this season, won its third OAC title in the last four years and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the third time in four years. Pinter is one of the nation's best Division III divers, who already is a 4-time All-American. Hamilton and Kapusta led the women's golf team to an 83-18 record, five tournament titles in 12 events, including the OAC title, and helped it to advance to its first NCAA Division III national tourney since 2000-2001.
 
Pecinovsky, who carried a 3.63 grade point average in psychology and political science, intends to go to graduate school this fall. The number-one singles and doubles standout finished the season with an overall record of 19-9 as a singles player and 23-9 in doubles. As a freshman, she was named as a member of the second team All-OAC, and first team All-OAC as a sophomore and junior. Pecinovsky is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Pi Gamma Mu, Psi Chi, Chi Alpha Sigma, and Dayton C. Miller Honor Societies. She is a Jacket Scholar and Dean's List member. As a junior, Pecinovsky was named Academic All-OAC At-Large.  As a senior in 2010-2011, Pecinovsky was awarded the Vogel Psychology Scholarship and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science. 

Pelosi, who carried a 3.44 grade average in psychology, was a four-year starter and led the team in singles victories after posting a 22-8 record primarily at the No. 5 position this past season.  In doubles play, she teamed with junior Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) at the No. 2 position and compiled a 18-5 record. In her career, Pelosi ranks fifth on BW's all-time career singles victories list with 70.  She also ranks ninth on BW's all-time career doubles victories list with 52.  Pelosi was a member of the Dean's List and was awarded the 2011 Dr. Ernest L. Welborn Scholarship in Psychology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. 
 
Marshall, who carried a 3.81 grade average in psychology and Spanish, intends to go on to graduate school in the fall. She shared time with freshman Morgan Baker (Vermilion/Elyria Catholic) as the No. 6 singles player where she posted a record of 18-9.  In doubles play, Marshall teamed with Baker at the No. 3 doubles position and posted a 12-9 record.  She ranks sixth all-time in BW career doubles victories with a 63.  Marshall also ranks seventh all-time in BW career singles victories with 54. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda, Psi Chi, and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies, Dean's List and a Jacket Scholar. She is a three-time Academic All-OAC At-Large selection.

Mittler, who carries a 3.57 grade average in middle childhood education, played either No.2 or No.3 singles and teamed with Pecinovsky on the No.1 doubles team for the second straight season. This season, Mittler finished the season with a 16-13 record.  In doubles play, Mittler and Pecinovksy led the team in doubles victories with a 22-8 record. In just two seasons, she has compiled a 31-22 record as a singles player and ranks 21st on BW's all-time career doubles victories with a record of 38-21. In the classroom, Mittler is a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Honor Societies and a Jacket Scholar.
