Baldwin Wallace Tennis Teams Have a Strong Spring Trip to Hilton Head, Seek OAC Titles

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team have a strong spring break trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and return to campus ready to challenge for the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference title and a berth at the NCAA Division III National Tournament.


The BW women were 3-3 in Hilton Head after playing four of its sixth matches against NCAA Division II competition and have a 7-6 overall record.

The BW women are led by the trio of junior No.4 singles player Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) with 12 wins, a 12-6 overall record, including a 7-3 slate at No.4. Senior No.5 player Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/ Green) is second with 11 victories, an 11-7 overall mark, including a 7-0 slate at No.5. Senior No.1 singles standout Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/ Columbus Bishop Hartley) is third with 10 wins, a 10-8 mark, including 7-6 at No.1.  In addition, senior No.6 player Katy Marshall (Medina/ Senior) is 9-9 overall.

In doubles play, the No.1 duo of Pecinovsky and sophomore No.3 player Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) have the most wins with 13, sport a 13-6 overall record and an 8-5 slate at No.1. The No.2 tandem of Green and Pelosi are 9-5 overall and 5-3 at No.2.

The Yellow Jacket women get back to action on March 26 when they host Capital on the Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.
