No. 4 Men’s Wrestling Runner Up at 36th John Summa Invitational on Seniors’ Day

BEREA, Ohio – The No. 4 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University men's wrestling team finished second at the 36th John Summa Invitational on Seniors' Day inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

BW was second of 10 teams with 359 points.  NCAA Division II West Liberty (W. Va.) University was the champion with 381 points. 

The Yellow Jackets had 20 top eight finishers, including four individual champions and two runner ups.

Junior No. 3 nationally ranked 133-pounder Jaden Hinton (Glassboro, N.J.) – Champion

  • Won a 12-0 major decision over Elijah Moshenek of Alfred State (N.Y.)
  • Won a 16-5 major decision over Mason Welch of St. John Fisher) (N.Y.)
  • Won an 19-2 technical fall over Matt Englehardt of West Liberty (W. Va.)
  • Won a 6-1 decision over Vincent Scollo of West Liberty (W. Va.)

Junior No. 1 nationally ranked 149-pounder Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) – Champion

BW is back in action on Tuesday, February 7 when it travels to Wilmington for an OAC match against Wilmington College in the Fred Raizk Arena at 7 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Sunday, February 12 when they travel to Alliance for an OAC match against the University of Mount Union and a non-conference match against NCAA Division II Ashland University in the Timken Gymnasium inside McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
