Men's Wrestling Moves Up Six Spots in NWCA Division III Top-25 Poll

MANHEIM, Pa.. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's wrestling team moved up six spots to number five in the third edition of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Top-25 Poll.

BW is joined in the Top-25 poll by fellow Ohio Athletic Conference members John Carroll University tied at 12, Ohio Northern University tied at 17 and the University of Mount Union at 20

In addition,four Yellow Jacket wrestlers are ranked national in their weight classes.  Senior All-American and defending 125 pound champion Jacob Decatur (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) is ranked seventh, junior 133-pounder Jaden Hinton (Glassboro, N.J.) is ranked fifth, junior All-Anerican and 149-pound runner-up Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) is ranked first and senior All-American Doug Byrne (Wickliffe) is ranked third at 197 pounds.

Decatur enters the week with a record of 3-1 all by decision.  Hinton is undefeated with a record of 14-0 and has tallied with seven major decisions, four technical falls and one pinfall.  Petrella, who has wrestled at 149 and 157 this season, has a record of 10-0 with five pinfalls and three technical falls.  Byrne, who is a two-time OAC Wrestler of the Week this season, is undefeated with a record of 11-0 and has recorded eight pinfalls, one major decision and one technical fall.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, January 6 and 7 when it travels to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals inside the Kentucky Expo Center.  First matches beging on Friday at 12 p.m.  Fans can follow the action live at https://bit.ly/3Qc9qXW
