BEREA, OHIO – Baldwin Wallace University Head Men's Wrestling Coach Jamie Gibbs has announced the addition on Ryan Monk as a graduate assistant coach.

Monk comes to BW after earning a Bachelor of Arts in history and serving as a student assistant coach at the University of North Carolina Pembroke (UNCP).  As a student-athlete at UNCP, he wrestled for two seasons and served as a team captain posted.  Monk posted a career record of 21-16 and was a 2021 NCAA Division II Super Regional champion and NCAA Championship qualifier.  Off the mat, he was a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American.

"I would like to thank Mr. Thompson, Coach Gibbs and Coach Zastrow for their confidence in my abilities to be of service to the athletic department and the wrestling team," commented Monk.  "I look forward to working with the coaching staff and our student athletes."

Prior to UNCP, Monk attended Penn State University where he was a defensive lineman on the Nittany Lion football team for three seasons.  He played in seven career games and made his first career tackle against Akron University on September 2, 2017.  Monk was the Scout Team Player of the Year Award winner during his freshman season.

In addition, he has served as an administrative coordinator and clinician at Johnson Athletic Camps.

BW opens the 2022-23 season on November 4 and 5 when it competes in the annual Ithaca (N.Y.) College Invitational.
