Hinton Garners First Career OAC Men’s Wrestler of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior No. 3 nationally 133-pound men's wrestler Jaden Hinton (Glassboro, N.J.) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.

Hinton earns the weekly honor after posting a 4-0 record last weekend enroute to winning the 133-pound title and helping No. 4 nationally ranked BW to a runner-up finish at the 36th John Summa Invitational.

He began the invitational with on a 12-0 major decision over Elijah Moshenek of Alfred State (N.Y.) University.  Hinton then posted a 16-5 major decision over Mason Welch of St. John Fisher (N.Y.) University and a 19-2 technical fall over Matt Englehardt of NCAA Division II West Liberty (W. Va.) University.  He won the championship with a 6-1 decision over NCAA Division II No. 5 nationally ranked Vincent Scollo of West Liberty (W. Va.).

This season, Hinton has a record of 29-2 with 10 major decisions, nine technical falls and two pins. In addition, He has also been the 133-pound champion at the Ithaca (N.Y.) University Invitational on November 5 and the BW Invitational on November 19.

For his career, Hinton has a record of 59-13 with 21 major decisions, 17 technical fall and two pins.  He is a 2022 NCAA Division III All-Central Region performer and a 2022 NCAA Division III National Tournament qualifier.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, February 7 when they travel to Wilmington for an OAC match against Wilmington College in the Fred Raizk Arena at 7 p.m.

BW closes out the regular season on Sunday, February 12 when it travels to Alliance for an OAC match against the University of Mount Union and a non-conference match against NCAA Division II Ashland University in the Timken Gymnasium inside McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
