Women’s Lacrosse Picked Third in OAC Coaches Poll

BEREA, Ohio—
The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team was picked to finish third in the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

BW finished with an 8-6 record overall record and advanced to the OAC Championship a year ago.

Head Coach Kim Russell
begins 2016 with a 26-16 record.  Russell returns 10 letter winners and eight starters. Look for junior OAC Defender of the Year  Maddie Russell (Rocky River), junior midfielder  Katie Kocher (Rocky River), and sophomore attack Caitlin Wheeler (River Forest, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) to lead the Yellow Jacket in 2016.

Last season, Russell scored a team-high 29 goals and 46 points.  She also led the team in groundballs and caused turnovers. Kocher led the team with 31 assists and was second on the team with 24 caused turnovers, and Wheeler was second on the team with 28 goals and 34 points.

BW begins the 2016 campaign on Wednesday, March 2 when they travel to Oberlin to take on Oberlin College in a non-conference game on Dick Bailey Field inside the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex at 6 p.m.
