Eight Players Score in Women’s Lacrosse Win Against Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Eight Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse players scored in a 21-2 Ohio Athletic Conference win over Wilmington College on Townsend Field inside Williams Stadium.

BW (11-6, 4-3 OAC) was led by freshman midfielder Megan Patrick (Ravenna / Kent Roosevelt) who scored four goals and added two assists for a career-high six points. Along with Patrick, freshman attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown / Green) scored a game-high five goals. Sophomore midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) and sophomore attack Caitlin Wheeler (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park-River Forest) also added three goals each.

Wilmington (2-14, 0-7 OAC) was led by senior defender Stephanie Belz who scored one goal and picked up three ground balls.

In the first half the Yellow Jackets outscored the Quakers 15-0. BW got three goals from Albrechta, Miller, and Patrick.  

In the second half BW went on a 2-0 run when Albrechta beat the Wilmington goalkeeper at the 20:06 mark to make it 17-0. The Quakers answered with a 2-0 run of their own when Belz scored with 8:38 left in the half. The Yellow Jackets scored the final three goals of the game.  

Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Giordanengo (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) improved to 11-6 on the season.

The fourth-seed Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, May 4 when they travel to Alliance to square off against the top-seed University of Mount Union in an OAC Tournament semifinal game inside Mount Union Stadium at 7 p.m. The winners of the two semifinal games will play in the championship game on Saturday, May 7 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
