Russell Named to Academic All-District At-Large Team

BEREA, Ohio –
Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 7 Academic All-District At-Large Team.

Russell is a chemistry major who carries a 3.95 grade point average, a Dean's List student, and Jacket Scholar. Last year she earned her first Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honor and she is up for her second this season.

Russell is a three-time All-OAC first-team selection and was the 2015 OAC Defensive Player of the Year. Last season she was also a second-team Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Great Lakes Region pick.

Russell owns the BW game-record in three categories, holds two season school-records and is the school career record-holder in six categories. She has played in 50 games, scored 114 goals and added 67 assists for 181 points. Defensively, Russell has tallied 139 caused turnovers, 143 draw controls, and 212 ground balls.

This season, she led the team with 33 caused turnovers, 64 ground balls, and 53 draw controls. Russell also scored 30 goals and added 26 assists for 56 points.

BW finished the year with a 11-7 overall record. The Yellow Jackets had an OAC record of 4-3 and advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinal game.
