Women’s Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short Versus Emmanuel (Mass.)

BRADENTON, Florida – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Emmanuel (Mass.) College, 15-14, on day one of the Sticks Up Lacrosse Spring Fling in GT Bray Park.

BW (0-2) was led by junior midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood / Rocky River), freshman attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown / Green), and junior midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River). Russell scored four goals, caused  six turnovers, and  tallied up seven draw controls. Albrechta scored four goals and added one assist. Kocher scored three goals and tallied up six draw controls. 

Emmanuel (1-0) was led by senior midfielders Kristen Tuleja and Sarah Higgins. Tuleja scored a game-high five goals and Higgins added four goals and one assist.

At the end of the first half BW had a 9-8 lead. The Saints went on a 6-3 run to take a 14-12 lead with seven minutes remaining. The Yellow Jackets scored two goals to tie the game at 14-14. In the final minutes of play the Saints caused a turnover and scored to secure the victory.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, March 9 when the face off against SUNY Potsdam (N.Y.) on day four of the Sticks Up Lacrosse Spring Fling in GT Bray Park at 10 a.m.
