Albrechta’s Career Game Leads Women’s Lacrosse Past Muskingum

BEREA, Ohio – Freshman attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown / Green) scored a career-high six goals and added two assists for a career-high 10 points, which led the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team to a 19-5 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Muskingum University on Sherman field inside McConagha Stadium this evening.

Along with Albrechta, BW (8-4, 1-1 OAC) also had strong performances from junior midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewook / Rocky River) and sophomore midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson). Russell scored two goals and added three assists for five points and added Miller scored five goals.

Muskingum (4-9, 0-3 OAC) was led by, sophomore attack Katie Megery with two goals and an assist for three points.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 4-0 lead when Albrechta netted her 30th goal of the season at the 21:54 mark in the first half. The Fighting Muskies got on the board a minute later when sophomore attack Sydni Uhrig beat the BW goalkeeper to make it 4-1. BW outscored Muskingum 8-1 at the end of the first half to make its lead 12-2 at halftime.

In the second half the Yellow Jackets went on a 6-2 run to make the score 18-4 when Albrechta netted her fifth goal of the game with 9:24 left in regulation. Both teams scored one goal in the last nine minutes of play and BW held on for the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Giordanengo (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) made three saves and picked up her eighth win of the season.

BW is back in action when it hosts Otterbein University on Saturday, April 16 in an OAC game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 1 p.m.
