Women’s Lacrosse Beats Allegheny (Pa.) for Fourth Straight Non-Conference Win

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin University women's lacrosse team defeated Allegheny (Pa.) College, 11-9, on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium this evening.

BW (5-3) was led by senior attack Emma Harding (Akron / Revere) who recorded her third consecutive hat trick with three goals. Along with Harding, freshman midfielder Megan Patrick (Ravenna / Kent Roosevelt), junior midfielders Maddie Russell (Lakewood / Rocky River) and Katie Kocher (Rocky River) each added two goals.  

Allegheny (4-5) was led by sophomore attack Shelby Piper with a team-high three goals. Junior attack Alexa Maloney and senior attack Jackie Morrow also added two goals.

The Gators took an early 4-2 lead when sophomore midfielder Katie Weiss netted her sixth goal of the season at the 15:56 mark. Both teams scored two goals in the last 15 minutes of the half to make it 6-4 at halftime.  

In the second half, BW went on a 2-0 run to tie the game up at 6-6 when sophomore midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) netted her 15th goal of the season at the 21:49 mark.  BW took its first lead of the game when senior attack Harding beat the Gators goalkeeper at the 17:29 mark to make the score 8-7.  The Yellow Jackets outscored Allegheny 3-2 in the final 17 minutes of play to hold on for the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Giordanengo (Cranberry Twp., Pa. / Seneca Valley) made seven saves and improved to 5-3 this season.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, April 3 when they host Southwestern (Texas) College for a non-conference on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium. The opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m.  Fans can follow all of the action live at http://bit.ly/1qaKW4l
