BW Women's Golfers Ninth After Day One of Capital Purple and White Invite

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team shot an opening round 426 on a very windy day one (Friday, April 9) of the 2010 Capital University Purple & White Invite at Foxfire G.C. in Lockbourne. The second and final day of the tournament begins tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.

The Yellow Jackets were short-handed as two players failed to make the trip due to illness. BW will enter day two in ninth place of 14 teams competing.

Freshman Emily Eighmy (Erie, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy) led BW with a 104 on the par-72 and 6,576-yard course and is tied for 34th place overall. Freshman Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) shot 105 and is tied for 36th place.

Freshman Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) and junior Sam Migalski (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) rounded out the team scoring with 107 and 110, respectively, and freshman Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) shot 121.

Following round two tomorrow morning, the Jackets are back in action on Sunday, April 18 at the John Carroll Invitational at Fowlers Mill G.C. in Chesterland.
