BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University Baldwin Wallace University sophomore forward Alissa Munro (Mansfield/ Lexington) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. This is her first career weekly honor.
Munro scored 28 points, grabbed eight rebounds and made seven three-pointers in just 34 minutes of playing time as the Yellow Jackets beat No.22-ranked John Carroll University (78-71) on Wednesday night and Marietta College (82-59) to move into first place in the OAC. For the week, she canned 8-of-13 shots from the floor for 61.5 percent, including 7-of-11 shooting from three-point range for 63.6%, and 5-of-6 foul shots for 83.3%.
Against the Blue Streaks, Munro had 11 points, including 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range, four rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot and one steal. In the victory against the Pioneers, she had a game-high 17 points, including 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block.
On the season, Munro is fifth on the team in scoring at 10.1 points-per-game and tops the team with 47 three-pointers.
The Yellow Jackets can at least share the OAC regular season title and secure the top seed in the OAC Tournament with a pair of victories as they close out the regular season this week. BW first hosts Heidelberg University on Wednesday, February 19 at 7 p.m. in the Ursprung Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets end the regular season ass they host Muskingum University on Saturday, February 22 in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 3 p.m. It will also be on Seniors' and Parents' Day and the annual Take a Kid to the Game Day
