BEREA, Ohio – Senior forward Lexi Rohrbach (Tiffin/Columbian) scored 12 points, but the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team lost at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University, 60-55, in an OAC game in the ONU Sports Center.

BW is now 13-5 overall and 8-3 in the OAC and falls one game back of 23rd-ranked John Carroll University for first place in the OAC standings. ONU is 14-4 overall and 7-4 in the OAC.

In addition to her 12 points, Rohrbach had eight rebounds and now 534 in her career and needs five more to move into 10th place on the all-time list.  ONU was led by senior forward Cenzie Yoder with a game-high 25 points.

After the game was tied at 2-2 and 4-4, the Yellow Jackets scored eight straight points and took a 12-4 lead at 14:01 when sophomore guard Alissa Munro (Mansfield/Lexington) made a three-pointer. ONU outscored BW 7-2 to close to 14-11 at 12:09 when junior guard Becca Saine made two foul shots.

BW increased its lead to 12 points at 23-11 at 9:03 with a 9-0 run that was capped when sophomore backup point guard Janaya Feaster (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) made a jump shot. ONU countered with a 7-0 run to close to 23-18 with 6:01 left when sophomore guard Carly Thomas made one of two foul shots. The Jackets outscored ONU 5-4 the remainder of the half and led 28-22 at the intermission.
In the second half, BW increased its lead to 37-26 at 15:09 when Rohrbach made a layup. ONU cut the lead to six points twice with the last at 39-33 at 13:32 when senior guard Taylor Hermiller made a layup, was fouled and completed the old-fashioned three-point play by making her foul shot.
The Polar Bears continued their run and tied the game at 43-43 at 8:25 when sophomore guard Brooke Espenschied made a layup, was fouled and made the foul shot. After BW gained a one-point lead at 44-43 with a foul shot by Munro at 8:14, ONU gained just its second lead of the game at 45-44 when Thomas made a layup at 7:26.
There were four lead changes and one tie before ONU grabbed a three-point lead at 52-49 with 4:22 left when Hermiller made two foul shots. The lead was four at 56-52 with 2:36 left when Espenschied made two free throws.  After the teams traded baskets, Rohrbach made a foul shot to make it 58-55 with 17 seconds left. But ONU "iced" the game when Espenschied canned two charity tosses with 16 seconds remaining.

BW is back in action on Saturday, February 1 when BW hosts Otterbein University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 3:00 p.m.
