Greg Patrick Becomes BW's Second All-American Thrower in as Many Days

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University junior thrower Greg Patrick (Collins/ Western Reserve) capped off the outdoor track & field season with an All-American performance in the shot put at the 2009 NCAA Championships in Marietta, Ohio on Saturday, May 23. Patrick placed eighth to become BW's first ever male outdoor All-American in the shot put and joins sophomore Kevin Phipps (Reynoldsburg/ Watkins Memorial)who earned All-America status in the discus throw yesterday.

Patrick qualified for the finals with a preliminary round throw of 53 feet and three-quarter inches. In the final round, Patrick's best throw of 53'1.5" came on his final attempt and made him BW's second throwing All-American under first year throwing coach Jarrod Davis.

Patrick was named the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year prior to the championships and the Ohio Athletic Conference "Sparky" Adams Field Athlete of the Year after the OAC Championships in late April.
