Price and Kromer Hit Provisional Qualifying Marks at NCC Last Chance Meet

BEREA, OHIO -- Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Naperville, Illinois this week (May 12-15) to compete at the North Central College "Last Chance" Meet. Junior Steve Price (North Olmsted) landed an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the decathlon on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12-13, and sophomore Matt Kromer (Parma/ Senior) hit a provisonal qualifying mark in the discus throw on Thursday, May 14.

Price scored 6,342 points and placed fifth in a highly competitive 13-person field. His point total currently ranks 16th in the nation and puts him on the bubble for the NCAA selection process on Saturday, May 16. Price's top performance was a first-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 22'7.25". He also posted career-bests in the 110-meter high hurdles (15.86), pole vault (13'3.5"), shot put (38'4.75") and 1,500m run (5:19.72).

Kromer placed eighth with a career-best discus throw of 158'7" and will also await word from the NCAA selection committee on Saturday. Sophomore Kevin Phipps (Reynoldsburg/ Watkins Memorial) and junior Greg Patrick (Collins/ Western Reserve) have already hit qualifying marks in the discus throw this season.

The trio also competed in the hammer throw and Phipps placed first with a toss of 175' and Patrick was third at 160'9".

On Friday, senior sprinter Jordan Hill (Carrollton) placed eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.80. She also finished seventh in the 200m dash at 25.91.

The Division III National Championship Meet will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23, at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.
