Baldwin Wallace University Sophomore Kevin Phipps Named OAC Field Athlete of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University sophomore thrower Kevin Phipps (Reynoldsburg/ Watkins Memorial) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for winning the discus throw at this past weekend's Division III All-Ohio Track and Field Championship.

Phipps reached a mark of 161'5" in the discus and was over seven feet better than the second-place finisher.  He also earned an additional All-Ohio honor with a second-place performance in the hammer throw with a toss of 161'9". 

Phipps, who also plays defensive end for the Yellow Jacket football team, was the individual discus champion at the OAC Indoor Championships on March 6 and competed at the NCAA National Championship Meet on March 13.

The Yellow Jacket men will next compete on Saturday, April 18 when they host the annual Paul "Sparky" Adams Invitational Meet in The George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio at 11:00 a.m.
