Kooyman Receives First Career OAC Men's Swimmer of the Week Award

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the first time in his career, Baldwin Wallace University Junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) has been selected as the OAC Swimmer of the Week. 

Kooyman earns the weekly honor after finishing first in the two events and second in another for the three total events he competed in. He helped his team defeat University of Mount Union for the first time in 10 years by a final score of 117.5-116.5.

In his individual events, he won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.06 seconds and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time for 49.21 seconds On the relay side, Kooyman's 200-yard medley relay squad won in a time of 1:41.47.

In his career, Kooyman has a career-best 50-yard freestyle time of 21.77 and a career-best 100-yard freestyle time of 48.01.

The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Thursday, November 17 - 19 as it travels to Oberlin for a three day non-conference meet against Oberlin College in the Carr Pool.
