Men's Swimming and Diving Conquers NCAA Division II Malone

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team takes down NCAA Division II Malone University to a final score of 166-51 in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (8-0) won 11 out of 13 events, as it defeated Malone to a final score of 166-51 .

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.06 and won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.60 seconds
  • Sophomore Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:23.99 and won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:06.33
  • Sophomore Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.67 and won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:00.65
  • Sophomore Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban) placed fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:37.66
  • Senior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) finished second in the 200-yard butterfly and a time of 2:12.78
  • Freshmen Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich. / Saline) won the 1-meter dive with a final score of 130.50
  • Sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.60 seconds
  • Senior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake) won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:28.49

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The 200-yard freestyle relay squad of junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon), sophomore Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario), Minick and Olsavsky won in a time of 1:31.60
  • The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Nathan Massey (Columbus / Centennial), McNeil, junior Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich. / Marshall) and Olsavsky won in a time of 1:45.27

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Sarasota, Florida on their annual winter break training trip
