AKRON, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team was defeated by Mount Union University at University of Akron inside Ocasek Natatorium.
BW (8-2) falls to Mount Union to a final score of 198-92.
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
- Sophomore Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) placed fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:03.39
- Freshman Kevin Meyer (Mentor) finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:55.79
- Sophomore Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 54.21 seconds and third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:05.32
- Senior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake) finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.64
- Junior Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich. / Marshall) placed fourth in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:22.01
- Junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) finished third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.49 seconds
- Freshmen Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich. / Saline) won the 1-meter dive with a total score of 243.40 and won the 3-meter dive with a total score of 224.50 points
- Senior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) placed second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:06.22 and third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.36 seconds
- Freshman Nolan Szuch (Springboro) finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:05.26
- Sophomore Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:20.96
- Sophomore Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.52 seconds
BW relays were highlighted by:
- In the 200-yard medley relay squad of Kingsley,McQueary, sophomore Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban) and Kooyman came in second with a time of 1:40.05
- In the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kooyman, sophomore Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario), Kingsley and Olsavsky placed third in a time of 3:21.10
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, January 27 when they close out the home portion of their schedule when they host a conference meet against John Carroll University at 6 p.m.
