BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace men's swimming and diving team took down the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University to a final score of 151-76 in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW (6-0) won 10 out of 12 events, as it defeated Ohio Wesleyan to a final score of 151-76.
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
- Sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:35.57
- Senior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:48.68
- Junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.50 seconds
- Freshmen Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich. / Saline) won 1-meter with a score of 242.50
- Sophomore Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:06.63 and placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.76
- Sophomore Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.73 seconds
- Freshman Nolan Szuch (Springboro) won the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 57.58 seconds
- Sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.44 seconds
- Sophomore Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.04
BW relays were highlighted by:
- The 200-medley relay squad of Szuch, senior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake), sophomore Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban) and Kooyman won in a time of 1:43.95
- The 200-freestyle relay team of Mellett, Kingsley, Olsavsky, and Kooyman won in a time of 1:30.43
The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, November 12 when it hosts Mount Union University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
