BW Men's Swimmers & Divers Win Twice; Women Swept at PSU-Behrend Tri-Meet in Erie

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet with host Penn State Behrend University and St. Vincent (Pa.) College this afternoon (Saturday, November 7, 2009) in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Yellow Jacket men won twice and the women were swept.

The BW men edged PSU-Behrend, 122-117, and defeated St. Vincent, 169-64, to improve to 3-1 overall this season.

The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Vince Colwell (Parma/ Normandy), junior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak), junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/ Lakeside) and senior Mark Andrasek (Parma/ Normandy) placed first of six teams with a time of 1:41.52.

Sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peter's) won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.66 and was followed by Musille at 22.74. Junior Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/ Cathedral) won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:08.58 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:08.42. Diamond was second in the 200 fly at 2:10.46.

Junior four-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) won the one-meter event with 336.90 points and the three-meter event with 323.45 points. The 200-yard free relay squad of Colwell, senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ Westerville South), Diamond and Musille won with a time of 1:31.07.

The women lost, 143-71, to PSU-Behrend and 148-66 to St. Vincent to fall to 0-4 overall.

Freshman Julie Pinter (Broadview Hts./ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) won the one-meter dive with 252.45 points. Sophomore Katie Cvelbar (South Euclid/ Regina) placed third in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:35.79 and junior Lauren Schaefer (Westlake) finished third in the 500-yard free at 5:48.83.

The 200-yard free relay team of freshman Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth), Schaefer, Cvelbar and freshman Gabby Paker (Girard, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy) finished second with a time of 1:46.66.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Saturday, November 14 versus Washington & Jefferson College at 1:00 p.m. at the BW Natatorium in Berea.
