Yellow Jacket Men Third, Women Fifth on Day Two of OAC Championships; Men Break Two School Records

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed on day two (Friday, February 19) of the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship meet at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. The Yellow Jacket men are third and broke two school-records. The Jacket women are fifth and broke one meet record.

The third and final day of competition begins with 11:00 a.m. prelims tomorrow morning. Finals are slated for 6:00 p.m.

Ohio Northern University's men sit in first place at 199 points and are followed by John Carroll University (107), BW (76), Mount Union College (68) and Wilmington College (32).

ONU's women also lead at 164.5 points and are followed by JCU (145), MUC (130), WC (49) and BW (39.5).

The top three individuals and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC honors.

For the men, junior four-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) won the three-meter championship at 491.25 points. Freshman Tony Tijerina (Napoleon) was third and earned All-OAC honors at 358.35 points.

The 200-yard medley relay team defended its conference title with the team of senior Vince Colwell (Parma/Normandy), juniors Ryan Musille (Canton/GlenOak) and Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/Lakeside) and sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/Mansfield St. Peter's) finishing in a school-record time of 1:36.51 seconds.

Musille finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a school-record time of 58.97. Colwell placed third in the 100-yard backstroke at 54.40.

Diamond placed fourth individually in the 100-yard butterfly at 53.50, just missing All-OAC status, and Null finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:48.08.

For the women, freshman Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) won the one-meter diving championship with an OAC meet record of 448.80 points. Freshman Erin O'Donnell (Perry) placed third and earned All-OAC honors with 407.60 points.
