Yellow Jacket Swimming & Diving Teams Swept at OAC Rival Mount Union College

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed today (Friday, November 20, 2009) in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet against OAC rival Mount Union College at Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.  The Yellow Jacket men fell to the Purple Raider men, 135-106, and the BW women fell to the Mt. Union women, 144.5-75.5.

With its lost, the Yellow Jacket men are now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, and the BW women are 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the OAC.

The BW swimmers and divers will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Oberlin for a tri-match with Oberlin College and Wittenberg University at 3:00 p.m.

On the men's side, the Yellow Jacket 200-yard medley relay team of senior Vince Colwell (Parma/ Normandy), junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/Lakeside), senior Mark Andrasek (Parma/ Normandy) and junior Ryan Musille (Canton/GlenOak) recorded a first-place finish in a time of 1:41.75.

Also for the Jacket men, the 200-free relay team of Colwell, Musille, senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ Westerville South) and sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/Mansfield St. Peter's) won in 1:29.05.

In individual events, junior Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/Cathedral) won the 200-yard breaststroke in a season-best 2:27.17. Junior four-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) won both one-meter diving events with 170.70 and 288.45 points, respectively.

For the women, freshman Hillary Stahl (Granville) took first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:53.27 and freshman Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) won both one-meter diving events with 181.10 and 251.00 points, respectively.

The 200-yard freestyle team of freshman Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), junior Lauren Schaefer (Westlake), sophomore Katie Cvelbar (South Euclid/ Regina), and freshman Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth) also placed first in a time of 1:46.22.

Following tomorrow's tri-match at Oberlin, BW next swims at the three-day SUNY-Fredonia (N.Y.) Invitational on December 4-6.
