Yellow Jacket Swim and Dive Teams Swept by Allegheny (Pa.) on Seniors' Night in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept by Allegheny (Pa.) College in a dual meet this evening (Friday, January 29, 2010) in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea. The College honored four senior men who competed in their final home events as Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jacket men lost, 150.5-92.5, and the women lost, 173-49. The BW men fall to 3-10 overall and the women are 0-13 overall. The Jackets are back in action tomorrow when they compete at Ohio Athletic Conference and Cleveland cross town rival John Carroll University at 1:00 p.m. at the DeCarlo Center in University Heights. This is the final dual meet of the 2010 season.

The four Yellow Jacket seniors honored were Mark Andrasek (Parma/ Normandy), Anthony Grad (Huron), Vince Colwell (Parma/ Normandy) and Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ Westerville South).

For the men, junior four-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) placed first in both the one-meter optional dive and in the one-meter voluntary dive scoring totals of 199.45 and 333.50 points, respectively. Junior Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/ Cathedral) placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.45. Sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peter's) also finished first in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.97 seconds.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Null, junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/ Lakeside), Andrasek and junior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) placed first with a time of 3:23.17.

For the women, freshman Julie Pinter(Broadview Heights/ Brecksville Broadview Hts.) placed first in both the optional and voluntary one-meter dives with final scores of 174.80 and 251.60 points, respectivley. Also placing in the optional and voluntary one-meter dives was Erin O'Donnell (Perry), who ranked second with final scores of 167.95 and 222.80 points, respectively.

Following the meet at JCU, the BW swimmers and divers are idle until they compete at the 2010 OAC Championship Meet at the University of Akron from February 18-20, The preliminary events begin eacxh day at 11:00 a.m. and the finals for those events are contested each eveining at 6:00 p.m.,
