Yellow Jacket Swimming & Diving Teams Swept at Oberlin Tri-Meet

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet with host Oberlin College and Wittenberg University this afternoon (Saturday, November 21, 2009) in Oberlin. The Yellow Jacket men and women won both diving events behind junior All-American Todd Richert (North Royalton) and freshman Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights).

The BW men lost 93-45 to Oberlin, and lost 104-36 to Wittenberg and are now 3-5 overall.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by Richert as he won the one and three meter diving competitions with 288.90 and 240.85 points, respectively. Also junior Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/ Cathedral) finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.54 and junior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.66.

The women lost, 114-25, to host Oberlin and 115-25 to Wittenberg. The women fall to 0-8 overall.

For the women, Pinter won the one and three meter diving competitions with a score of 231.55 in the one-meter and 234.06 points in the three meter dive. In the 800-yard freestyle relay freshman Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy), freshman Sara Leighty (Westerville/ Columbus School for Girls), freshman Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth), and junior Lauren Schaefer (Westlake) finished with a time of 7:44.22 to place third.

The Yellow Jackets are back on action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (December 4-6) when they swim at the three-day SUNY-Fredonia (N.Y.) Invitational.
