Yellow Jacket Swim and Dive Teams Swept at Hiram

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept at Hiram College this evening (Friday, January 22, 2010) at Alumni Memorial Natatorium in Hiram. The Yellow Jacket men lost 159 to 130 and the women fell 145 to 96.

The BW men fall to 3-8 overall and the women 0-11 overall heading into tomorrow's dual meet versus Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University at 1:00 p.m. at the BW Natatorium in Berea.

For the men, sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peter's) placed first in the 50-meter breaststroke at 33.75 seconds. Junior four-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) won the one-meter event with 299.70 points and freshman Tony Tijerina (Napoleon) placed first in the three-meter dive at 154.45 points.

The 200 free relay team of senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ Westerville South), Null, junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/ Lakeside) and junior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) touched the wall first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:44.94.

For the women, freshman Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy) placed first in the 50 freestyle at 30.54. Freshman diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville Broadview Hts.) won the one-meter event with 225 points and the three-meter event with 215 points. Freshman Hillary Stahl (Granville) also won the 100 breaststroke at 1:33.11.

Following tomorrow's meet versus ONU, the Jackets are idle until Friday, January 29 when they host Allegheny (Pa.) College on Seniors' Night at 6:00 p.m. in Berea.
