BW Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams Each Fourth After Day One of OAC Championships

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on day one (Thursday, February 18) of the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship meet at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. Both teams currently sit in fourth place.

Ohio Northern University's men totaled 87 points on day one and were followed by John Carroll University (62), Mount Union College (35), BW (33) and Wilmington College (18).

JCU's women totaled 72 points on day one and were followed by ONU (64.5), MUC (40), BW (28.5) and WC (22).

The top three individuals and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC honors.

On the men's side, BW's 200-yard freestyle relay team placed second with sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/Mansfield St. Peter's), junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/Lakeside), senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/Westerville South), and junior Ryan Musille (Canton/GlenOak) touching the wall in 1:27.26 seconds. Null just missed earning All-OAC status as an individual, placing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.74.

For the women, freshman Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) earned All-OAC honors with a third-place finish of 25.24 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Day two prelims begin at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow with finals slated to start to 6 p.m. The meet wraps up on Saturday with start times once again at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
