Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball in the first game of and Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader to Otterbein University by a final score of 76-65 inside the Rike Center.

BW Leaders (9-12, 5-9 OAC)

  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Anthony Mazzeo (Canton/Massillon Jackson) led all scorers with 25 points. He added five rebounds and two steals.
  • Junior guard Luke Driscoll (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) added 12 points off the bench.
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Jake Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) added 10 points, five points and six assists.

Otterbein Leaders (14-7, 8-6 OAC)

  • Junior All-OAC guard Cam Evans scored 22 points.
  • Senior All-OAC guard Dallas Patrick scored 16 points.

First Half (41-33 Otterbein)

  • Snyder nailed the first bucket with a pull up jumper.
  • A 5-0 Otterbein run gave them the lead and they didn't look back the rest of the half
  • Mazzeo caught fire from three hitting back to back threes to tie things up at 15-15.
  • The Cardinals went on another 5-0 run to regain the lead.
  • Driscoll came into the game and scored six straight point for BW.
  • Driscoll was efficient off the bench scoring 10 points on 5-6 shooting along with a steal on the defensive end.
  • Mazzeo was the Yellow Jacket in double figures as he scored 10 to go along with three rebounds.
  • Otterbein was led by junior All-OAC guard Cam Evans with 12 points.
  • Senior All-OAC guard Dallas Patrick added 10 points for the Cardinals. 

Second Half (78-68 Otterbein)

  • Mazzeo came out on fire scoring nine of the first 10 points after going 3-3 on threes.
  • BW opened the half with 26-9 scoring advantage with a 5-7 mark from three.
  • The Cardinals were able to bounce back halfway through the half as over the final 10 minutes they outscored the Yellow Jackets 28-9.
  • Mazzeo led all scorers in the half with 14 points.
  • Snyder added nine points.
  • Evans scored 10 for Otterbein.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, February 8th when the team travels to Ada to take on Ohio Northern University in an OAC contest inside the ONU Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.
