Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Muskingum on Seniors’ Day

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team celebrated Seniors' Day with a victory against Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 70-41 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

Before the game, BW (11-12, 9-9 OAC) honored it's four senior student athletes – All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Jake Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban), All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Anthony Mazzeo(North Canton/Massillon Jackson), guard Lian Levesque (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark), and forward Jackson Simmons (Wadsworth).  

BW Leaders

  • Sophomore guard Ashton Price (Bay Village/Bay) led with 15 points and three rebounds. 
  • Simmons followed up with 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. 
  • Snyder finished with eight points, four rebounds, and three assists. 

Muskingum Leaders (1-22, 1-15 OAC)

  • Logan Stotzer led with 12 points and five rebounds. 
  • Duane Davis added 10 points, three rebounds, and four assists. 

First Half (30-20 BW)

  • Muskingum got the first lead of the game, going on a 7-2 run from the start.
  • The Yellow Jackets responded with a 10-0 run, earning a nine-point lead with 8:12 remaining in the half.  
  • The remainder of the first half featured back-and-forth action with BW going into half-time leading the Muskies by 10. 
  • Snyder led BW in the first half with six points and four rebounds.
  • Stotzer and Kaelan Pulliam both led the Fighting Muskies with five points each. 

Second Half (70-41 BW)

  • Sophomore forward Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) was first to the basket in the second half scoring off a layup to start BW on a 12-point advantage. 
  • The teams traded baskets until a three from Mazzeo sparked the Yellow Jackets onto a 10-0 run, putting them up by 21 points. (13:02)
  • The teams went back-and-forth until BW closed out the game on a 12-4 run, claiming the victory by a final score of 70-41.
  • The second half was led by Price who tallied 13 points. 
  • Davis led Muskingum in the second half with eight points, two rebounds, and two assists.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, February 15th when they host OAC crosstown rival and No. 6 nationally ranked John Carroll University at 7:00 p.m. in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
