B-W Baseball Team Falls to DII Notre Dame College (Ohio), 9-6, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team lost a non-conference game to NCAA Division II Notre Dame College, 9-6, this afternoon (Thursday, April 29, 2010) at Heritage Field in Berea.

B-W falls to 11-20-1 overall and is back in action this Saturday, May 1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader versus Muskingum University at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Field. Head Coach Bob Fisher
 remains one win shy of the 700 mark. With their win, the Falcons improve to 28-16 overall.

The Yellow Jackets scored once in the first when freshman centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria/Senior)
doubled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by senior third baseman Jim Martin (Euclid).

B-W added to its lead in the fourth when twin brothers Chris
 and Scott Nealon (Avon Lake) hit back-to-back doubles to make the score 2-0. Notre Dame answered with six runs in the fifth on a two-run double, a run on an error, and a three-run homerun.

The Yellow Jackets fought back with three runs in their half of the fifth with a Neuschaefer
 triple, back-to-back doubles by senior second baseman Matt Rollins (Walbridge/Millbury Lake) and Martin, and a sac-fly byChris Nealon.

The Falcons added single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth and held the Jackets to just one in the ninth to secure the 9-6 win.
 
On the mound, senior Brian Boveington (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls)
 started and took the loss to fall to 0-3. He allowed six earned runs (all in the fifth) in four and one-third innings pitched with three strikeouts. Sophomore Colin Wright (Lorain/Admiral King) threw two and two-third innings in middle relief and sophomore Josh Scott (Strongsville) tossed the final two.  

At the plate, Neuschaefer
 was 3-for-5 with a double, two triples and three runs scored. Scott Nealon was 3-for-4 and Chris Nealon and sophomore catcher Anthony D'Attoma (Copley) were each 2-for-4.

Following Saturday's games, the Yellow Jackets close out the regular season with a twinbill versus Capital University on Saturday, May 8 in Berea.
