B-W Baseball Team Swept in Doubleheader at Lake Erie

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Lake Erie College this afternoon (Saturday, March 27, 2010) at Kiwanis Recreation Park in Painesville, Ohio. The Yellow Jackets fell 15-5 in the first game and 11-9 in the nightcap.

B-W, now 4-7 overall, has lost three in a row since returning from its spring trip in Florida. Lake Erie has won four straight and improves to 8-8 overall. The Yellow Jackets are right back in action tomorrow with another doubleheader at Walsh University at 1:30 p.m.

In game one, Lake Erie jumped out to a 4-0 lead with one in the first and three in the second. The Jackets got within one after a three-run third but the Storm scored four times in the third and seven times in the fifth. B-W only managed single runs in the fourth and seventh.

Senior Justin Novak (Strongsville) started and pitched the first four inning while dropping to 1-1 for the season. Sophomore Chris Terlop (Strongsville) and senior Brian Boveington (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls)each threw in relief.

At the plate, B-W was paced by freshman centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria/ Senior) with two hits and senior first baseman Chris Nealon (Avon Lake) with two hits and three runs batted-in.

In game two, the Storm scored three times in the first before B-W answered with five in the second. LEC came right back with three in the second and two in the third to pull away.

Sophmore Bill Bostelman (Marion/ Harding) started and threw three innings in the loss. Freshman David Redovian (Fairlawn/ Copley) and Chris Nealon each pitched out of the bullpen.

At the plate, B-W was led by Scott Nealon (Avon Lake) with three hits and freshman outfielder Brendan Toughey (East Amherst, N.Y./ St. Josephs Collegiate Institute) with two hits and two runs. Neuschaeferalso had three RBI.

Following action at Walsh on Sunday, B-W is set to play at Hiram College on Tuesday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m.
