BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University, 9-7, this afternoon (Thursday, April 15, 2010) at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland.

B-W struck first in the top of the first inning when freshman centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria) scored on a fielding error.  Case then came back with three runs in the second before BW scored once in the third when senior first baseman Chris Nealon (Avon Lake) doubled to right and scored on a single by senior outfielder Ted Cowling (Streetsboro).

CWRU countered with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth before Neuschaefer singled, advanced following a pair of singles from senior second baseman Matt Rollins (Walbridge/Millbury Lake) and senior third baseman Jim Martin (Euclid), then scored on a sacrifice fly from Nealon.

In the bottom of the seventh Case opened the game up with four runs.  Rollins led a BW comeback in the top of the eighth. Cowling and junior catcher John Ulanski (Bay Village) walked and pinch hitter Anthony D'Attoma (Copley) singled up the middle to load the bases early. Neuschaefer was hit by a pitch to score Cowling.  Rollins then cleared the bases with a single to left and advanced to second on a throwing error, earning two RBI.  The Jackets could get no closer however as CWRU held on, 9-7.

At the plate, Rollins was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Nealon was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Neuschaefer was 1-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.
