Baldwin-Wallace's Cody Kidd Named First-Team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-American

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior centerfielder Matthew 'Cody' Kidd (Wellington) has been selected as a 2009 First-Team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Baseball Academic All-American. Kidd was a third-team honoree in 2008.

Kidd, a biology/pre-med major who recently graduated with a 3.83 grade point average, finishes his career as a two-time ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-American. In addition, he was a three-timeESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV and three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. He was also the co-recipient of the 2009 Kenneth F. Steingass Outstanding Senior Male Athlete Award at B-W.

In 2009, Kidd earned First-Team All-OAC honors and Second-Team American Baseball Coaches Association All-Mideast Region status.He ranked fourth in the OAC with a .413 batting average (62-of-150) and second with 52 runs scored and led the league with six triples and 23 stolen bases in 26 attempts. Kidd also totaled 13 doubles, three homeruns and 40 runs batted-in.

He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in hits (184), runs scored (143), triples (14) and hit-by-pitches (25). He also had more stolen bases (62) and a higher batting average (.387) than any other Yellow Jacket from 2000-2009.

Kidd was a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda, Dayton C. Miller and Chi Sigma Alpha academic honor societies.
