Five Baldwin-Wallace Baseball Student-Athletes Named Academic All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- Five Baldwin-Wallace college baseball student-athletes have been named to the 2009 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. They include senior outfielders Cody Kidd (Wellington) and Mike Brisky (Berea), senior pitchers Brandon Fredericks (Copley/ Richfield Revere) and Jim Jaskowak (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and junior pitcher Justin Novak (Strongsville).

Kidd, a biology/pre-med major with a 3.83 grade-point-average, is a three-time Academic All-OAC and ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV selection. He was also named a third-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-American in 2008 and is a candidate for that honor again in 2009. Kidd finished his career as the school's all-time leader in hits (184), runs scored (143), triples (14) and hit-by-pitches (25). He also had more stolen bases (62) and a higher batting average (.387) than any other Yellow Jacket from 2000-2009. Kidd was also the co-recipient of the 2008-09 Kenneth F. Steingass Award as B-W's Most Outstanding Male Athlete.

Brisky earned his undergraduate degree in marketing and accounting and carried a 3.72 GPA. He also carries a 3.64 GPA in the College's Master of Business Administration and Accounting program. Brisky was named Academic All-OAC in 2007 and 2008 and ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV this season. In 2009, Brisky batted .301 with 11 runs batted-in. He is a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lamda, Chi Alpha Sigma and Laurels honor societies.

Fredericks is a business administration major with a 3.93 GPA and B-W's male Clyde Lamb Award winner, symbolic for the school's most outstanding male student-athlete. Fredericks led B-W with 52 and two-third innings pitched, three complete games and 32 strikeouts in 2009. He was also a 2008 Academic All-OAC pick and was named ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV this season. Frederick's is a Dean's List student and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Alpha Lambda honor societies. 

Jaskowak is a business administration and accounting major with a 3.56 GPA. He was also named honorable mention Academic All-OAC in 2008. In 2009, Jaskowakmade eight starts on the mound and finished the year with three wins, one complete game and 43.1 innings pitched.

Novak is a business administration and accounting major with a 3.86 GPA. He tied for the team lead with a 5.02 earned run average and posted a 3-2 record with two complete games in 43.0 innings of work. Novak is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
