BW Men’s Tennis Team Come Back and Beat Capital in OAC Semifinals

MASON, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team defeats Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University, 5-4, today in an OAC semifinal match at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. The Yellow Jackets advance to the 2014 OAC Championship match tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.  where they will play Otterbein. The winner of the OAC Tournament advances to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

With its victory, BW improves to 19-3 overall. Capital is 11-7 overall.
 
The Yellow Jackets trailed 2-1 after doubles play as the No.1 tandem of sophomores Peter Harris (Akron/ Richfield Revere) and Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Liberty) defeafted the Capital tandem of Luke Buchanan and Dale Booher, Capital by an 8-6 score.  

In singles action, the Yellow Jackets  were led by Ganim who defeated Kenny Duncan of Capital by scores of 6-4 an 6-1. Junior Kyle Patterson (Wooster / Triway) won by scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Harris beat Booher by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

The match came down to freshman Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington / Bexley) in the fifth singles match where he defeated Beau Streety, 4-6, 6-4, and 6-4, to send the Yellow Jackets to the 2014 OAC Championship match.
