BW Men’s Tennis Team Shuts Out Nazareth (N.Y.) in Hilton Head, S.C.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team remained unbeaten and defeated Nazareth (N.Y.) College, 9-0, today in the first of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.  BW also plays Catholic (Washington D.C.) University tonight at 6:00 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets, now a perfect 7-0 overall, led 3-0 after doubles play as the number one tandem of sophomores Peter Harris (Akron/ Richfield Revere) and Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Orange) won, 8-4, to improve to 8-3 overall this season. No. 2 duo of junior Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) and senior Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) won, 8-3, and are now 9-2 overall. No.3 tandem of senior Zach Elbin (Findlay) and freshman Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) won 8-4 and improved to 6-1 overall.

In singles action, No.1 player Patterson defeated Nazareth senior Erik Manske, 6-1 and 6-2 to improve to 6-4 this season. No.2 Harris beat sophomore Scott Trobert, 6-2 and 6-0, and is now 7-2 overall. No.3 Ganim beat Golden Flyers' senior Nick Lord, 6-1 and 6-4, to improve to 8-2 overall and tied for the most wins on the squad. No.4 Minrovic beat junior Matt Jennings, 6-2 and 6-2, to improve to 6-3 overall. No.5 freshman Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/ Bexley) defeated NC's sophomore Brian Rosiek, 6-4 and 6-1, to move to 8-3 and tie Ganim for the most victories. No.6 junior Letch Radomirov (Fairview Park/ Fairview) improved to a perfect 6-0 this year with a 6-0 and 6-1 straight-set win versus freshman Christian Bryant.

Tomorrow, BW plays Albion (Mich.) College at 6:00 p.m. BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 22 when it hosts Capital University at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.

BW's 7-0 record this season increases its three-season mark to 59-2 overall in dual matches. In 2011-2012, BW set a single-season school record with 29 victories, had a 29-1 record, won the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference regular season (9-0) and tournaments titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Last season, the Jackets produced a 23-1 record.
