BW Men’s Tennis Team Beats Catholic in Hilton Head, S.C.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team remained unbeaten and defeated Catholic (Washington D.C.) University, 6-3, today in the second of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.  BW also beat Nazareth (N.Y.) College, 9-0, earlier this morning.

The Yellow Jackets, now a perfect 8-0 overall, led 2-1 after doubles play as the number one tandem of sophomores Peter Harris (Akron/ Richfield Revere) and Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Orange) won, 8-4, to improve to 9-3 overall. The No. 2 duo of junior Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) and senior Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) also won, 8-4, and improved to 10-2 this year. 

In singles action, Ganim won at No.3 by the scores of 6-0 and 6-0 to improve to 9-2 overall. Minrovic won at No.4 by a 6-2 and 6-4 count to improve to 7-3 overall. Freshman Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/ Bexley) won at No.5 by scores of 6-3 and 6-2 and improved to 9-3 overall. Junior No.6 player Letch Radomirov (Fairview Park/ Fairview) won by the scores of 6-0 and 6-2 and stayed unbeaten at 7-0.

Tomorrow, BW plays a very strong Albion (Mich.) College team at 6:00 p.m. in its only match of the day. The Yellow Jackets play a pair of matches on Tuesday and end their spring break schedule o  Wednesday.  BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 22 when it hosts Capital University at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.

BW's 8-0 record this season increases its three-season mark to 60-2 overall in dual matches. In 2011-2012, BW set a single-season school record with 29 victories, had a 29-1 record, won the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference regular season (9-0) and tournaments titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Last season, the Jackets produced a 23-1 record.
