BW Men’s Tennis Team Shuts Out Edgewood (Wisc.)

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team shut out Edgewood (Wisc.) University, 9-0, today in the fifth of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.  Earlier this morning, the Yellow Jackets defeated Gordon (Mass.) College, 8-1.

The Yellow Jackets, now 10-1 overall, led 3-0 after doubles play as the number one tandem of sophomores Peter Harris (Akron/ Richfield Revere) and Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Orange) won, 8-6, to improve to 12-3 overall. The No. 2 duo of senior Zach Elbin (Findlay) and freshman Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) won, 8-0, to improve to 7-3 overall. The No.3 tandem of freshman Jake Liebler (Medina/ Senior) and senior Dan Rowsey (Ashland/ Senior) won, 8-4, and are 2-0 this season.

In singles action, No.1 player junior Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) won by the scores of 6-0 and 6-4 and is 7-6 overall. Harris won at No.2 by the scores of 7-6 and 6-4 and is 9-4 overall. Ganim won at No. 3 by a 6-0 and 6-2 count and improved to a team-best 12-2 overall. Senior Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) won at No.4 by scores of 6-2 and 6-0 and is 8-4 this season. Freshman No.5 player Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/ Bexley) won in straight sets of 6-2 and 6-1 and is now 11-4 overall and has the second most singles victories. Junior No.6 player Letch Radomirov (Fairview Park/ Fairview) won by a 6-1 and 6-0 count and improved to 9-1.

The Yellow Jackets end their spring trip schedule in Hilton Head on Wednesday, March 12 when they play Lake Forest (Ill.) College at 6:00 pm. BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 22 when it hosts Capital University at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.

BW's 10-1 start this season increases its three-season mark to 62-3 overall. In 2011-2012, BW set a single-season school record with 29 victories, had a 29-1 record, won the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference regular season (9-0) and tournaments titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament before losing to eventual finalist Kenyon College. Last season, the Jackets produced a 23-1 record with the only loss coming to OAC champion and NCAA tourney participant Ohio Northern University.
