BW Men’s Tennis Completes Play at ITA Tourney

KALAMAZOO, Michigan --  The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team completed play today (Sunday, September 29, 2013) at the 2013 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Region Tournament at Kalamazoo (Mich.) College.  This was the final fall event for the Yellow Jackets.

In singles play, sophomore Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Orange) beat John Snider of Lake Forest (Ill.) College by scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Junior two-time All-OAC, Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 standout Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) beat Rustam Saini of North Central (Ill.) College by scores of 6-4 and 6-4. And senior two-time Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 and ITA Scholar-Athlete Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) beat Conor Breen of Ohio Wesleyan University by scores of 7-5 and 6-2.

In doubles play, sophomore tandem of All-OAC player Peter Harris (Akron/ Richfield Revere) and Ganim defeated the Trine (Ind.) University team by a score of 8-4. Patterson and Minrovic defeated both a Kalamazoo College team, 8-5,  and an Elmhurst (Ill.) College team, 8-2.

The Yellow Jacket men, 2-0 in dual matches this fall and 54-2 during the past two-plus years, have concluded their fall schedule. The college tennis season is divided into two portions with the Yellow Jackets playing two dual matches and in two tournaments during the fall.  The season resumes in late winter with a match or two prior to the team's annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. 

Two years ago, the men won the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament with a school-record 29 victories and a 29-1 record. Last year, BW was 23-1 overall.
