STEUBENVILLE, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened the 2013-14 season by defeating Franciscan University, 9-0, in a non-conference match at Belleview Park.

In singles play, junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference No. 1 Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) defeated Paul Jarzynka, 6-4 and 6-0. Sophomore No.2 Peter Harris (Akron /Revere) defeated Leonel Lacayo, 7-5 and 6-1. At No. 3 sophomore Doug Ganim (Westerville/Olantangy Orange) defeated Zachary Quiza, 4-6, 6-3, and 6-3. No. 4 senior Brad Minrovic (Akron/Ellet) defeated Patrick Rowsey, 6-2 and 6-1. No.5 freshman Nathan Katz defeated David Freytag, 6-3 and 7-5. and at No. 6  freshman Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) defeated Joesph Staniszewski, 6-4 and 6-2.

In doubles action, the No. 1 duo of Harris and Ganim defeated Jarzynka and Lacayo, 8-1. The No. 2 tandem of Patterson and Minrovic defeated Quiza and Rowsey, 8-2. At No. 3 doubles Katz and Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) defeated Freytag and Staniszewski, 8-3.

The Yellow Jacket men next play at the Oberlin Invitational in Oberlin, Ohio on September 21st and 22nd.
