Women's Track and Field Begins Outdoor Portion of Season at the Washington & Lee Carnival

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field teams began the outdoor season at the Washington & Lee Carnival(Va.) at Wilson Field.  

 On the track highlights include:

  • Sophomore Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:09.96 and 14th in the 1500m in a time of 5:08.95. 
  • Freshman Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) finished in 24th time in the 5000m with a time of 20:15.83.
  • Fresmen Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed 27th in the 800m with a time of 2:37.23. 
  • Freshmen Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) finished in ninth in the 400m with a time of 1:02.25. 
  • Freshmen Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) placed 17th in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.54 seconds.
  • Sophomore Lexie Gozdan (Canton / Massillon Perry) placed ninth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.51.
  • Freshmen All-OAC Julie Childers (Kempton, Ind. / Tri-Central) placed 28th in the 200m dash in a time of 27.91 seconds. 

Field event highlights:

  • Freshman Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) finished third in hammer throw with a distance of 42.41m and fourth in shot put with a distance of 11.40m. 
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) finsihed in sixth in high jump with a height of 1.52m and 14th in long jump with a distance of 4.61m.
  • Junior Hannah Pack (Minster) placed 23rd in Javelin Throw with a distance of 17.32m.  
  • Sophomore Emily Randall (Mount Gilead) placed 19th in triple jump with a distance of 8.91m
  • Freshman Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) placed fourth in discus throw with a distance of 38.48m.

On the Relay Side:

  • The 4x400 meter team of Childers, Collier, Voytek, and freshmen All-OAC Sam Varga (Louisville / Lake Center Christian) placed fourth in a time of 4:10.63. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Friday, March 25th for a two day meet in Pittsburgh, PA at Carnegie Mellon Invitational inside Gesling Stadium.
