Women's Track and Field Placed Fourth at the 52nd Sparky Adams Invitational

BEREA, Ohio. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team placed fourth hosted the 52nd Sparky Adams Invitational inside George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Freshman Cori Wentz (Mansfield / Ontario) placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 50:45.10.
  • Freshmen Ellie Burns (Louisville,Ky. / Assumption) placed eighth in the 3000-meter steeple chase in a time of 13:46.48.
  • Freshmen Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed 22nd in the 1500-meter run in a time of 5:20.16.
  • Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) placed fourth in the 400-meter run in a time of 59.77 seconds.
  • Sophomore Lexie Gozdan (Canton / Massillon Perry) finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:12.49. 
  • Freshmen Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) placed third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.09 seconds. 
  • Junior Academic All-OAC selection Maddie Miller (Medina) placed fourth in the 5000-meter run in a time of 19:53.63

 Field event highlights:

  • Freshman Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) placed second in shot put with a distance of 11.58m and seventh in hammer throw with a distance of 45.58m and 14th in javelin with a distance of 22.53m. 
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) won the high jump with a height of 1.58m and placed fifth in long jump with a distance of 5.03m.
  • Freshman Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) placed eighth in discus throw with a distance of 36.45m. 

 On the Relay Side:

  • The 4x400 meter team of freshmen All-OAC Sam Varga (Louisville / Lake Center Christian), senior All-American Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain), sophomore Kamaria Montgomery (Louisville / Canton GlenOak) and sophomore All-OAC Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) placed fifth in a time of 4:32.79. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, April 30th when it travels to Hillsdale, Michigan for the 55th Hillsdale Relays hosted by Hillsdale College on Ken Herrick Track.
