Women's Track and Field Compete at Tiffin Track Carnival

TIFFIN, Ohio. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team competed at the Tiffin Track Carnival hosted by Heidelberg University inside Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:33.33 and second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.70
  • Senior All-American Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) won the 1500-meter run in 4:44.24 and placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:05.47.
  • Freshmen Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) placed 13th in the 400-meter run in 1:01.83
  • Freshmen Maura Devine (Baden, Pa. / Ambridge Area) finished 35th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:38.45
  • Sophomore Lexie Gozdan (Canton / Massillon Perry) finished 18th in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:14.71. 
  • Freshmen All-OAC Sam Varga (Louisville / Lake Center Christian) placed 59th in 200-meter dash in a time of 28.61 seconds.
  • Freshmen Ellie Burns (Louisville,Ky. / Assumption) placed 25th in the 5000-meter run in a time of 21:09.93
  • Freshmen Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed third in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 42:21.40

 Field event highlights:

  • Freshman Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) finished 19th in hammer throw with a distance of 45.25m 
  • Freshman Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) placed 24th in discus throw with a distance of 36.75m.
  • Junior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) finished 11th in shot put with a distance of 12.54m and fifth in javelin throw with a distance of 23.56m. 
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) placed 25th in long jump with a distance of 4.88m and 10th in high jump with a height of 1.53m.
  • Freshmen Abby Lorincz (Avon) placed 12th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.35m. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 23rd when it hosts the 52nd Sparky Adams Invitational inside George Finnie Stadium.
